Kits For Treating Marble, Limestone, & Onyx

Marble, limestone, and onyx are beautiful stones. That beauty needs to be captured and protected in order for you to gain the most enjoyment from your natural stone. What does your marble, onyx, or limestone need to keep its eloquent appearance? How can you protect your calcareous stone from unsightly discolorations that can come up?

Seal Marble, Limestone, or Onyx After Installation

Virtually all natural stone needs to be sealed to make it resistant to stains caused by oil and water based liquids. By putting a premium sealant on your marble, onyx, or limestone, you create a barrier that slows the absorption of oil based and water based liquids into the pores of the stone. When certain liquids get into the pores of a natural stone, they can cause stains and calcareous stone such as onyx, limestone, and marble are no exceptions to that rule.

Calcareous Stone Etches

Etching of Marble, Onyx, and Limestone

Calcareous natural stone contains calcite, a mineral that is destroyed when it comes in contact with acid. Common household acids also deteriorate sealants that are normally used on natural stone by fabricators and stone installers. That means even if you maintain your marble countertop faithfully, you can get an etch if it is exposed to a citrus spill or maybe a vinegar puddle for more than even a few seconds. Having an etch removing kit on hand allows you to get the etch out and the appearance corrected quickly.

Keeping the proper kits on hand allows you to be prepared for whatever may come your way and keep your marble or onyx countertop, or your limestone surface looking good as new.
