STONE CARE

HOW ITALIANS MAKE STONE SHINE.
In Italy, marble and granite have been part of our lives for thousands of years. Not just as decoration, but for everyday use in our homes. We encourage you to use your stone surfaces as much as possible, but please care for them as well.

This is how we do it in Italy.
Even though stone is a tough material, we don’t put extremely hot items from the oven or stove directly on it. We use trivets or mats. We use coasters under our glassware, when we have marble. And we use placemats under our china. We are especially careful with acidic foods and liquids, including citrus juice and alcohol.

To care for your stone, do this:
Keep surfaces as dust free as possible.
When cleaning a countertop, use Lustro Italiano stone cleaner. No surprise there.
Before cleaning, remove loose debris.
Use a soft, clean cloth or paper towel.
Blot spills immediately.
Polish as needed, usually every 4 – 6 weeks, using Lustro Italiano stone polish with sealant.

Remember this:
Never use vinegar or citrus-based cleaners.
Never use bathroom, tile or window cleaners.
Never use steel wool or scouring pads.
